BRIEF HISTORY: Established on a local farm in 2004, Hidden Depot Farm Bed and Breakfast is a modern country home on the trail of Lee’s Retreat just a few minutes from Saylor’s Creek Civil War Battlefield. Created to provide comfortable and informal bed and breakfast services and amenities to travelers to Hampden Sydney College, Longwood University and the Appomattox, and Amelia Court House Areas; and still be close enough for historical sites and attractions in both Richmond and Lynchburg, VA 
Well worth the drive from Richmond, VA, a small country bed and breakfast located on a private and secluded 3-½ Acre Lake and 115 acres of woods, fields and trails. An ideal place families can meet and relax in a perfectly tranquil setting. Attractions include canoeing and fishing in the lake; hiking the private hardwoods wildlife trails, bird watching, local civil war history, 2 great nearby train watching locations and the Crewe Railroad Museum; the Saylor’s Creek Battlefield; and still have a hearty country breakfast with homemade delights served on the porch overlooking the lake. Enjoy our extensive library of Railroad and Model Railroad videotapes, DVDs and books. With pre-approval also visit some of the O-Gauge model train layouts in the area. ROOMS: Rooms available at the full service bed and breakfast convenient to both Farmville and Amelia are: a three room suite (Emily’s Suite) and an upstairs bedroom (Jonathan’s Hideaway) – each room is private with its own entrance and has a queen-size bed and private bath.

Bedroom has a queen size bed and private bath. The room hardwood floors and is tastefully done with Oriental Carpets and Civil War Pictures and Documents. The private doors lead to a porch that overlooks the lake and gives breath-taking sunrise and wildlife views! All guests enjoy full kitchen privileges for snacks, ice and drinks!
Private Porch for Emily’s Nook
The private porch is secluded with a lake view and is an ideal location for a good book and complete relaxation. In good weather, enjoy a mid-afternoon treat while overlooking the lake!
Emily’s Nook “Loom and Sitting Room
A haven for “weavers and quilters, and located next to the bedroom, the sitting room is filled with looms, wool, books, a telescope, and items that create the perfect get-away! Whether reading a book, watching wildlife and birds through the telescope, or just sitting, the “Loom Room” is a place of serenity and calm – the place to forget about the problems of the world. If a person sits just right, they might even enjoy the company of one of the farms “cats!”
Emily’s Nook Rate – This suite has a daily rate of $ 110.00 per day plus tax. It is also the room that is reserved first and most often.
JONATHAN’S HIDEAWAY
Jonathan’s Hideaway – This room is upstairs and very quiet. This comfortable room is reached by stairs just inside the main B&B entrance so doesn’t require going through other areas of the house. As Emily’s Suite, guests enjoy full kitchen privileges for snacks, ice and drinks. This room has its own library of books! There is a private bath located next to the bedroom.

Jonathan’s Hideaway Rate - This room has a daily rate of $ 89.00 per day plus tax.
SPECIAL TOURS and SERVICES:
1. Civil War History – Hidden Depot Farm is actually on Virginia’s Official “Lee’s Retreat Trail.” This trail is one of several historical Civil War Trails located though out Virginia and Maryland. We’re centrally located to the Civil War Sites and battlefields in Richmond, Petersburg, Lynchburg, High Bridge, Saylor Creek Battlefield and Appomattox. These tours are conducted by both hometown residents and professional Tour Companies. Tours are custom designed and priced on an individual basis – and packaged tours can include accommodations, appropriate tickets, and all meals
.
2. Railroad and Model Railroad Tours – Tour packages with accommodations and full meals can be arranged for Train Watching on the Norfolk/Southern, visiting High Bridge, local Railroad Museums or different model railroad layouts in the area.

3. Special Social Functions – With over a mile of nature trails around the lake and throughout the farm – enjoy nature at its best in an unimproved natural setting. Enjoy the private lake and canoes with your own cookouts and other activities for small groups on the Bed and Breakfast grounds. Please note that no alcohol is served if student and persons under 18 are involve – guests or visitors.
4. Fishing - Our 3 ½ Acre Lake provides good fishing for bass and bluegill fish. Light tackle and fly-fishing is especially popular Fishing is free for all guests! 

5. TRAIL WALKING – Hidden Depot Farm Bed and Breakfast is trail walking, bird watching, and just the peace and quiet of the woods and fields at its best! Covering 115 acres of old established hardwoods and fields, it is common to see deer, wild turkey and possibly a beaver or otter. Once a year we’ve been visited by a beautiful large Osprey! Down by Flat Creek is a secluded walking area perfect for a get-away picnic.
6. Run Your O-Gauge Lionel or other Manufacturer Model Trains –
Guests are invited to bring and to run their own O-Gauge trains either on the Bed and Breakfast’s large O-Gauge layout; or at the permanent layout at the local Crewe Railroad Museum. This service is free. Guests are encouraged to volunteer to help out in the various model train shows presented throughout the year. There is no charge for this service but guests are responsible for their own trains. Almost all Lionel, MTH and other major manufacturer’s O-Gauge AC controlled trains will run on the layouts
